Progressive Web Application Development

App-like enterprise experiences delivered through the web.

FutureSoft engineers progressive web applications that can be installable, responsive, fast and resilient in variable network conditions—without requiring a conventional app-store release for every application update.

When a PWA fits

  • Users need mobile-first access across managed and unmanaged devices.
  • Installation friction must be lower than a conventional app-store flow.
  • The application needs selected offline or poor-network resilience.
  • Frequent application updates should reach users quickly.
  • A shared web codebase can meet the required device-capability and performance needs.

When a PWA may not fit

  • The application requires deep or continuous background device access.
  • Platform-specific capabilities or performance are central to the experience.
  • App-store discovery or platform-native commercial models are important.
  • Offline data requirements exceed what can be safely and reliably synchronized through the browser environment.

Engineering scope

  • PWA feasibility and architecture
  • Responsive application engineering
  • Service workers and caching strategy
  • Offline data capture and synchronization
  • Installability and application manifest
  • Push notifications where supported
  • Secure authentication and session handling
  • Performance and Core Web performance engineering where applicable
  • Cross-device and browser testing
  • Telemetry and analytics
  • Migration from an existing responsive web application where justified

Offline and synchronization design

Offline behavior must be designed explicitly. FutureSoft defines what data can be cached, what actions can be queued, how conflicts are detected, how retries work, and how the user is informed when local and server state differ. The goal is predictable operation, not an “offline works everywhere” promise.

Option Best when
Responsive web Always-connected browser access is sufficient and installability or offline operation is not required.
Progressive web application Installability, selected offline resilience and web-based distribution provide value without deep native-device requirements.
Native or cross-platform mobile Device capabilities, background processing, performance, enterprise distribution or platform-specific experience justify a mobile application.

FAQ
Do PWAs work fully offline?

They can support selected offline scenarios, but capability depends on the data, workflow and browser environment. Offline scope should be explicitly designed and tested.

Do users have to install a PWA?

No. A PWA can still run in the browser. Installability provides an app-like launch experience where supported.

Can a PWA use push notifications?

In supported environments, yes. Browser and platform limitations must be assessed for the target user base.

Can you convert an existing website into a PWA?

Sometimes. A technical assessment should determine whether the existing architecture and use case justify PWA features or whether a new application layer is required.
